Air France cancels flights as pilots go on strike

Air France had been forced to cancel six out of 10 flights on Monday and predicted the same level of groundings for next day. French flag carriers' flights are being canceled in week-long strike called by Pilot Union. The strike will also affect the Prague airport.

Air France pilots’ unions called a weeklong strike starting Monday as they seek better conditions. They disagree with a plan to expand the low-cost subsidiary Transavia as the company is shifting jobs and operations to this low-cost carrier to better compete with rivals.

Evening flights from Paris to Prague and back had been already cancelled. On Tuesday, there will not be four flights between Prague and Paris and also no airplane will take of en route to Marseille, said Prague airport spokeswoman Eva Krejci.

Budget carrier EasyJet announced an offer of extra seats to passengers stranded by the Air France strike.
