Hundreds of people gathered Friday to show their disapproval with alleged spread of Islam in European countries. This is a first such protest in the Czech Republic organized by movement called "We do not want Islam in the Czech Republic."

Waving Czech flags and banners, chanting slogans such as “Islam is Terror” and “Away with Islam,” the protesters were addressed by a series of speakers. By holding a minute of silence, crowd also honored the 17 victims killed in the French capital during terrorist attacks last week.

Two dozen counter-protesters showed up to disagree with group’s aim “to ban spreading and promoting of Islam.” Police were closely monitoring the situation, but no major intervention was needed.
