Earlier on Thursday Czech authorities stated that Prague's Na Bulovce hospital preventively admitted a man with mere suspicion of Ebola disease, who returned from Liberia 22 days ago. It is a second case of suspected Ebola virus disease in the Czech Republic.Posted at 11:53 pm on October 9, 2014 by Jan Uruba Cover photo by Athalia Christie, CDC
“As the only symptom has been fever so far, we hope that it might be another disease, for instance, malaria,” chief sanitary officer Vladimir Valenta said on Thursday to Czech news agency.
Ebola is spread through direct contact with body fluids from an infected person. “At present all people whom he has met since he returned home are being searched for,” he added.
Hospital took man’s blood samples and sent them to Berlin for further analysis. Results are expected to come back on Friday afternoon by phone or fax.
