Four men face jail for selling forged motorway vignettes

Four men from Moravian-Silesian Region could spend up to 1 year in prison each for selling forged motorway tax stickers. Police seized 56 unsold stickers and approximately 300 000 CZK in cash.

Frýdek-Místek Police says all four men confessed to selling forged motorway vignettes to their relatives, but also to strangers around and inside local apartment complexes.

According to Police spokesman Vlastimil Starzyk, party which produced forged motorway vignettes is still yet to be identified.

This is an ongoing investigation.

Vignettes are required for the use of motorways and expressways by all motor vehicles of up to 3.5 tons excluding motorcycles. Penalty for failure to display valid tax sticker when required is fine up to 100 000 CZK (€3600).
