MEP Petr Mach resigns as leader of Free Citizens’ Party

MEP Petr Mach has announced that he is resigning as leader of the Free Citizens' Party, a Czech libertarian eurosceptic political party which he founded and led since 2009.

The 41 years old economist and politician, who has been elected as MEP in 2014, claimed internal disputes about ideology and direction of the party to be the main reason behind his decision.

To prevent constant conflicts within the party, Mach sees resignation as an only way to clarify party’s future direction. It will allow him to face supporters of alternative visions as he will seek re-election, his media assistant Kateřina Kašparová stated in a press release.

Mach has founded and was an only leader of the Free Citizens’ Party since 2009.
