Prague Police Crack Down On Foreign Workers

The Prague Police has detained 18 people last week in connection with performing employment in the Czech Capital without a valid permit.

The crackdown took place last Wednesday. Ten detainees have already been deported based on court rulings.

The Police targeted workers of a specific company. All of them were performing cleaning duties or working as guards in Albert grocery stores.

According to Jiří Mareček, the spokesman for the Albert store brand, all 18 affected workers were not affiliated with Ahold – the company running the Albert supermarket chain. He also added that they were employed by an external company, which was contracted by Ahold.
