Prague’s Uber car secured with wheel clamp, driver’s activity under review

Prague City officials in cooperation with Czech police secured one of Uber's vehicles operating in the Czech capital city. According to the authorities, the vehicle stays secured until bail is posted.

The American company engaged in providing passenger car transport operates in Prague since August of 2014. According to Ministry of Transportation mobile application UberBlack, offering taxi services, does not violate domestic laws. But there are legal conditions such as that driver has a valid licence to operate taxi and vehicles are properly marked with roof light.

Authorities initiated an inspection of Uber at the beginning of September. Since Uber drivers don’t possess a licence for providing taxi service and their vehicles are not properly marked, officials want to check if the company or its drivers are not in violation of Czech Trade Act.
