The new contracts will be valid for a period of five years. In total, both companies will pay over CZK 480 million during the contract’s duration. Airport’s spokeswoman Marika Janouskova confirmed.
Travellers passing through the Vaclav Havel Airport will be able to spot Taxi Praha vehicles starting in January of 2017. Fix Taxi is one of a two current taxi service providers in the airport, and their taxicabs will remain at the taxi stands in front of terminal 1 and terminal 2 at least until the end of 2021.
Four other companies participated in the bidding.
AAA Radiotaxi, the other current provider of taxi transportation at the airport, wasn’t present among unsuccessful bidders and did not bid at all. According to the Czech News Agency, the company’s drivers complained and petitioned the Finance Minister, Andrej Babis, for better tender conditions. Radiotaxi has previously complained about fines that are imposed on the company when customers are forced to wait more than 5 minutes for their taxicab due to lack of vehicles at the stands.
