Annual Christmas markets kick off in Prague

Christmas markets have become an international hit. It is an annual tradition for many locals and visitors from all over the world to come and experience the Christmas markets in Prague. 

Wooden huts and stands selling hot drinks, roasted almonds, paintings and Christmas decorations – these are prevalent in Prague city squares in the run-up to Christmas. You can taste some traditional Czech foods, hot wine, grog, and warm honey liquor called medovina come in handy in the cold weather. After dark, the markets are lit up beautifully and Czech Christmas carols add to the festive atmosphere.

The largest and most popular markets are open from 10 am to 10 pm and they are located on the Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square. But there are also smaller ones running on the Republic Square, Peace Square, Holešovice Exhibition Grounds as well as many other places around Prague.
