Czech Post ordered to pay fine over lost consignments

The Czech Telecommunication Office has fined Czech Post 370,000 CZK for a loss of a delivery container filled with 274 consignments. Company has already paid the fine and responsible deliveryman is no longer Czech Post's employee.

According to the Czech Telecommunication Office, it was a systemic failure rather than a failure of just one individual.

The incident occurred on 25th April 2014 in Ustí nad Labem, a town of roughly 100,000 in northern Bohemia. When loading a truck, the delivery man supposedly left the blue transport box filled with consignments on the ground and unwittingly drove off. It was found later the same day by a passerby who notified authorities.

Czech Post is a government-owned company, employing more than 33,000 workers.
