Environment ministry plans to quintuple solar and wind energy by 2030

The Department of the Environment is looking to raise the usage of solar and wind energy five times by the year 2030.

Czechia’s Ambitious Renewable Energy Goals for 2030

The Czech Republic’s Environment Ministry has unveiled an ambitious strategy aimed at significantly boosting the country’s reliance on renewable energy sources. As per the proposed national climate-energy blueprint, the ministry intends to elevate the proportion of energy derived from renewable sources to 30% by the end of the decade, marking a substantial shift from current levels.

This pivotal plan is slated for a government vote in the coming week. Should it secure the necessary approvals, the next step would involve submitting the proposal to the European Commission for its endorsement, aligning Czechia with broader European sustainability objectives.

In a recent interview with Czech Radio, Environment Minister Petr Hladík shed light on the ministry’s vision for the future of energy in the nation. He emphasized the goal to multiply the present contribution of solar and wind energy by five times by 2030. Minister Hladík expressed confidence in the plan, characterizing it as both “ambitious” and firmly grounded in reality.

The move underscores Czechia’s commitment to environmental sustainability and its proactive approach to addressing global climate challenges. If realized, this plan could position the country as a leader in renewable energy adoption within the European Union.
