And according to the airport CEO Pavel Schneider, upward trend should continue even next year. Mostly because of large sporting events that are scheduled for 2015, such as IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, and new innovations of the airport itself.
Starting next year, Leoš Janáček Airport is also going to offer new type of ground transportation – newly finished train station inside the terminal building, which is connected to national rail network. Train service connecting City of Ostrava and Leoš Janáček Airport is scheduled to begin it’s full operations during April 2015.
Airport in Ostrava currently offers regular year-round passenger service only to two destinations – Prague, which is operated by Czech Airlines, and London, operated by Irish low-cost airline Ryanair. Aimed at holiday travel, airport also offers seasonal service to Paris and numerous charter flights.
