Police in Prague are looking for a man who allegedly swindled a woman he met online out of $3,500.Posted at 2:03 pm on October 3, 2019
According to the Service of Criminal Police and Investigation in Prague, a woman from the Czech capital told police she met a man posing as an American commercial pilot. During their weeks-lasting romance, he convinced her to send him money on two occasions to be able to meet in person before cutting off all contact with her.
Police are investigating the incident as a potential criminal fraud case. According to the press statement, detectives believe that the suspect might be of Romanian or Ukrainian origin and are asking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect.
If found and convicted, suspects in criminal fraud cases in the Czech Republic can be sentenced for up to 10 years in prison.
