Prague Airport reports busiest year so far

The Václav Havel Airport Prague welcomed 16 millionth passenger in 2018. It is the first time it has ever reached that milestone and expects to clear a total of 16.8 million passengers by the end of the year.

It’s the third year in a row that passenger number record has been broken by the Prague Airport, Vaclav Rehor, Chairman of the Board of Directors, informed in a press release.

Overall traffic at the largest international airport in the Czech Republic is expected to grow by 9% year-on-year.

Rehor claims that the new numbers confirm that the Prague Airport is growing almost double speed compared to the European average of 5% for airports in the 0– 25 million passengers category.

“The growth is anticipated to continue in 2019, both in terms of the number of passengers, where the expected increase is 3 to 5% and in the number of direct routes,” Vaclav Rehor said.

On average, 46,000 passengers passed through the airport each day. The most popular destination for passengers flying from Prague is London, where all six international airports have direct connections to Prague.
