Czech Silver Museum + Medieval Silver Mine Tour
The museum tells the story of silver mining that made Kutná Hora briefly wealthier than Prague in the 14th-15th centuries. The mine tour descends into a real medieval silver mine — dark, cramped, with white protective coats provided. Not for the claustrophobic. ~250 CZK.
Cathedral of Assumption (Sedlec)
Just next to the ossuary. Different building; also part of the combined ticket. Beautiful gothic-baroque cathedral, less visited than the ossuary because most tourists don’t realize it’s there.

Depends. Some 8-year-olds find the ossuary fascinating; others are distressed. Some 12-year-olds treat it as a joke; some 40-year-olds walk out. Preview photos and gauge your kid’s reaction before committing.

Yes. The ossuary alone justifies the trip, and the town is much more than a one-attraction destination.

65 km east; 55 min direct train.
Are the bones in Sedlec Ossuary real?
Yes — an estimated 40,000-70,000 real human skeletons from the medieval cemetery.
Why can’t I take photos in the ossuary?
Since 2020, photography requires a paid permit due to years of disrespectful tourist selfies. Rule is strictly enforced.
