In a significant development for the Czech industrial real estate sector, Panattoni, the market leader, has facilitated the expansion of Jungheinrich, one of the world’s foremost suppliers of handling equipment, into the Chomutov region. This move is marked by the establishment of a new plant within Panattoni Park Chomutov North, specifically designed for the production of reach trucks. The commencement of this production is slated for 2023, with the construction phase kicking off in 2022. The investment for this project is substantial, with a budget of approximately €60 million.

The collaboration between Panattoni and Jungheinrich is executed using the built-to-suit method, ensuring that the facility is tailored to meet the specific needs of Jungheinrich. This strategic partnership is expected to generate over 350 new jobs, contributing significantly to the local economy. Moreover, the project is not just about industrial growth but also about ecological responsibility. An extensive set of measures to promote biodiversity around the industrial zone has been agreed upon by both parties. This includes a 1.5-hectare area dedicated to planting native tree and shrub species, the creation of ponds to enhance local species diversity, and other initiatives like grassland and bird boxes.

The choice of Panattoni Park Chomutov North for Jungheinrich’s expansion is strategic, given its central European location and excellent logistical connections. This expansion is a response to the growing demand for Jungheinrich’s forklift trucks and is a step towards sustainable and profitable growth, enhancing the company’s long-term competitiveness.

The project stands out for its commitment to environmental sustainability, targeting the Excellent level of BREEAM New Construction certification. This reflects a growing trend in the industrial real estate market where developments are increasingly aligned with ecological standards.

Jungheinrich, headquartered in Hamburg, has a rich history spanning over 60 years in providing intralogistics solutions. The current production of reach trucks at the Jungheinrich plant in Norderstedt will be gradually transferred to the new site in Chomutov, starting in 2023. This relocation will allow the Norderstedt facility to focus on further growth and expand its production portfolio to include medium/high-level order pickers, catering to the booming e-commerce sector.

This development is a testament to the evolving industrial landscape in the Czech Republic, where international collaborations are fostering economic growth, job creation, and environmental stewardship. It’s a clear indication that the Czech industrial real estate market is not just growing but also adapting to the modern demands of sustainability and innovation.
