A Modern Marvel in the Heart of the City
Prague, June 10th, 2024 – The much-anticipated Máj Národní shopping center is under construction and set to open its doors on June 24th 2024, bringing a fresh wave of shopping, dining, and entertainment options to the bustling center of Prague. The revamped facility will also feature a diverse entertainment space, appealing to a wide range of visitors.
Located at the iconic corner of Národní třída and Spálená ulice, this nine-story complex promises to be a vibrant hub for both locals and visitors.

A Comprehensive Shopping Destination
Máj Shopping Centre Prague, a traditional shopping destination, will occupy three floors of the landmark building, featuring a diverse array of shops, cafes, and restaurants. The building’s second floor’s food hall alone will offer approximately 750 seats, providing a global culinary journey right in the city center.
Retail Highlights
Supermarket Revival: The Máj building, historically significant as the second department store established in the Czech Republic, continues to evolve. The Tesco supermarket, a familiar presence from the former Máj department store, returns to the first underground floor, now accessible via two new escalators with a sleek, modern design featuring glass sides and colorful lighting.
Diverse Retail Options: The ground-level passageway has been transformed into 25 meticulously designed retail units. Shoppers will find everything from fresh flowers at Holandské květiny to luxurious jewelry at Klenoty YES, alongside a variety of other stores including Rossmann, Žabka, Pekárna Kabát, and more.
Gastronomic Delights in the Food Hall
One of the main attractions of Máj Národní is its extensive gastronomic zone. Visitors can look forward to a wide selection of food options, ranging from quick bites to sit-down meals, showcasing cuisines from around the world.
Featured Dining Options
- Global Flavors: The food hall will host renowned brands like American fast-food giant Popeyes and health-conscious dean&david. Traditional Czech dishes and international specialties will also be available, ensuring a treat for every palate.
- Specialty Restaurants: Highlights include BURGER KING, AMERIKANOS, Rud’s pizza, and a variety of Asian eateries such as Bali Bali bistro and Mi Sushi. Other notable mentions are Satyam for Indian cuisine, Prima Bašta for Czech classics, and YAYA’s Meat & Seafood for Greek delights.

Enhanced Shopping Experience
Aesthetic and Comfort: The shopping center is designed to offer a pleasant contrast to the city’s hustle and bustle. A well-known artist, David Černý, contributed to the artistic elements of the building, including the controversial installation of giant butterfly sculptures on the renovated façade. Featuring two of the largest crystal chandeliers ever installed in a Czech shopping center, Máj Národní is set to impress visually and functionally.
Accessibility: With entrances from Národní třída, Spálená ulice, and Charvátova ulice, the center is easily accessible to the roughly 90,000 people who pass through this busy area daily.
Additional Services
Máj Národní is more than just a place to shop and eat. It will also offer services such as professional beauty care at Studio Art Nails Beauty&Spa, health care at Lékárna LEMON, and financial services at iRepublic and YesPojisteni. There are also two tobacco stores, Don Pealo, ensuring that every need is catered to.
