“Interview with the Vampire” Resumes Filming in Prague’s Malá Strana

“Interview with the Vampire,” the AMC TV series, has resumed production in Prague after a 10-week pause due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. The series, which is an adaptation of Anne Rice’s novel, has reached a unique agreement with the actors’ union to continue filming in Europe. The production, which began in April, was halted in mid-July with about five weeks of shooting left. Filming has taken place at various iconic locations in Prague, including Prague Castle, Old Town Square, the Estates Theatre, and the Vyšehrad fortress.

The remaining production is expected to run through early November, with filming scheduled in the tourist-popular Malá Strana neighborhood, near the steps leading up to Prague Castle. The series, which stars Sam Reid, Jacob Anderson, Delainey Hayles, Eric Bogosian, and Assad Zaman, has moved its second season production to Prague after shooting the first season in New Orleans. In the series, Prague is depicted as Paris in the 1940s, among other locations and time periods.

“Interview with the Vampire” is one of two major vampire productions shot in Prague this year, the other being Robert Eggers’ remake of “Nosferatu.” The series was one of three major Hollywood productions in Prague affected by the SAG-AFTRA strike. While “The Wheel of Time” continued production, filming for “Foundation” was halted and seems unlikely to resume until the next year.
