In an interview with The Los Angeles Times, Carpenter, who directed the series from his home in L.A., shared his experience and thoughts on the project. “Suburban Screams” was filmed in Prague earlier this year, and Carpenter directed a single episode of the series remotely. He also served as an executive producer and composed the score.
Carpenter described the series as based on true stories, with a focus on creepy narratives. He chose to direct an episode about a phone stalker because he felt a connection to it. Despite the challenges of working with reality show budgets, Carpenter found a great actress, Julie Stevens, to star as the protagonist in his episode, which details the true story of a woman stalked for six years.
Carpenter expressed his candid views on the Prague locations used for the series, stating that Prague doesn’t look like America and is more suited for Viking or Dracula movies. He also commented on the streaming industry, noting that the people who run it are not from show business.
The production of “Suburban Screams” in Prague was coordinated by Milk and Honey Pictures, which has credits for other projects like the sci-fi series “Foundation” and Netflix’s horror anthology “Haunted.”
