American fast-food enthusiasts in the Czech Republic have a reason to celebrate. In early November, the first Czech branch of the famous American chain Popeyes is set to open. Located on Wenceslas Square in Prague, just a few meters from its apparent biggest competitor, KFC, Popeyes is poised to challenge the fast-food scene with its Louisiana-inspired fried chicken offerings.
The upcoming restaurant is designed to be the flagship of the chain in the Czech Republic. It boasts an impressive area of around 700 square meters, spread over two floors with seating for up to a hundred guests. Positioned in the upper part of Wenceslas Square, one of Prague’s most touristically active areas, the location is strategic.
Marko Blaževič, responsible for Popeyes’ expansion in Central and Eastern Europe, mentioned that the entry into the Czech market has been almost a year in the making. The opening of the first Czech branch, celebrated for its chicken menu inspired by American Louisiana, was shrouded in a bit of mystery, with representatives keeping the exact opening date under wraps until recently. Now, it’s confirmed that the restaurant will commence operations on Friday, November 3, from 10:00 AM.
Czech guests can look forward to enjoying meals already popular in Warsaw and Wroclaw, where Popeyes recently opened. The menu includes favorites like the Chicken Sandwich, Cajun fries, and American biscuits, along with other chicken delicacies.
Popeyes, a highly popular fast-food establishment, has expanded to thirty countries worldwide over its fifty-year history, boasting around 3,800 branches. Following the opening of the flagship store in Prague, the chain plans to expand to Brno within a month and to two more unspecified locations by the end of the year.
