Prague Václav Havel Airport found itself in chaos on Saturday morning. Due to dense fog and a malfunction of the meteorological station, several flights had to be diverted to other airports.
Dense fog settled over Prague overnight from Friday to Saturday. Visibility at the airport reached only a few tens of meters in the morning. In such a case, landing aircraft is dangerous and may even be impossible.

In addition, due to the failure of the meteorological station, the crews of the aircraft did not have access to up-to-date weather information at the airport. This further complicated the situation.
By 10:00, eight flights had been diverted. Only two landed between 5:00 and 6:00 in the morning.
Around 10:00, the fog began to dissipate and the first plane landed. As a result, the situation at the airport should return to normal.
Prague Airport is one of the busiest airports in the Czech Republic. Therefore, the operation here is sensitive to any adverse conditions.
In this case, the combination of dense fog and a failure of the meteorological station proved to be very problematic. Diversions of aircraft caused complications for both passengers and airlines.
