Prague, August 28, 2024 — Commuters in Prague should prepare for significant disruptions to tram services between Lazarská and Jindřišská from Monday, September 2, until Saturday, September 28. These changes are due to essential maintenance work and upgrades to the tram infrastructure, including the installation of new track crossings.
Details of the Service Disruption
The maintenance work will impact several key streets and intersections along the tram route, leading to partial and complete closures in different sections throughout the month:
- September 2 to September 27: Tram operations will be suspended along Vodičkova and Jindřišská streets, from the Palackého intersection (ending approximately 100 meters after the intersection with Václavské náměstí in both directions). This is necessary for the installation of track crossings.
- September 27 to September 28: Full closure of tram services along Lazarská, Vodičkova, and Jindřišská streets, from the Lazarská x Spálená intersection to the Senovážné náměstí track crossing. Both directions will be affected.

Tram and Bus Route Diversions
This disruption will lead to several changes in tram and bus routes:
- Affected Tram Lines: 2, 3/9, 5 (5/14), 6, 15, 16, 18, 22, 23, 24, 26, 29, 35, 39, 41, 42, 90, 91, 92, 94, 95, 96, 98.
- Temporary Cancellation of Tram Lines: 4 and 21 will be completely suspended during the maintenance period.
- Bus Line Adjustments: There will also be temporary changes to bus routes 905 and 911.
Commuters are encouraged to plan their journeys in advance and consider alternative transportation options where possible. The Prague Public Transit Company (DPP) advises checking their official website for the latest updates and detailed information regarding the service changes.
This maintenance work is part of ongoing efforts to improve the reliability and safety of Prague’s tram network, aiming to minimize future disruptions by addressing necessary infrastructure upgrades now.
