Nitin Gadkari’s Sustainable Mobility Drive in Prague
Union Transport Minister of India, Nitin Gadkari, embarked on an official visit to the Czech Republic, where he took a test drive on a hydrogen bus in Prague. The test drive, captured in a video and shared on social media, highlights India’s commitment to exploring sustainable and eco-friendly mobility solutions. Gadkari, accompanied by several officials, was seen riding the hydrogen bus, which represents a significant step in reducing carbon emissions and addressing environmental concerns.
During his visit, Gadkari also participated in the Ministerial session on Road Safety at the 27th World Road Congress in Prague, reiterating India’s dedication to achieving global road safety targets set in the Stockholm Declaration. Known for advocating the transition to renewables and green energy, Gadkari has been a vocal proponent of green hydrogen as an efficient and sustainable energy pathway. Earlier this year, he made headlines by driving a green hydrogen-powered car to the Indian Parliament, marking a first in the country.
Gadkari’s initiatives, including the launch of India’s first hydrogen-based advanced Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) – Toyota Mirai, and his personal use of a hydrogen-powered car, underscore his commitment to a green transition in fuel. He believes that rapid advancements in green fuel technology will soon bring the cost of electric vehicles on par with petrol-run vehicles.
