The picturesque town of Frýdava in the Czech Republic is gearing up for the Energamo Lipnolopet, scheduled for Saturday, October 7. This 55km long-distance roller ski race, with a total ascent of 850 meters, is a part of the Ski Classics Challengers event series.
The race promises a scenic route around the Lipno reservoir, leading to a sprint checkpoint after 14km. As participants continue, they’ll encounter the first aid station followed by a challenging climb to Pasečná. This segment also features a Climb Checkpoint and another refreshment station at the 26km mark. The route between kilometers 20 and 40 offers breathtaking views of the Alps, beaver dams, and the historic Schwarzenberg canal. After looping back to Lake Lipno, participants will face a final steep climb with gradients reaching up to 14%.
For those who can’t be at the venue, the event will be live-streamed on SC Play from 9:55 CET. Anton Karlsson and Teemu Virtanen will guide viewers through the event.
The surroundings of Lake Lipno are a haven for nature enthusiasts, offering recreational areas, wellness hotels, cycling trails, water sports, and much more. The region is also popular for roller and cross-country skiing, making it an ideal location for training camps.
In addition to the main race, shorter races of 22km and 9km are scheduled. On Friday, a city sprint will take place in Frymburk, covering a distance of 1km, starting at 18:30 CET.
The Energamo Lipnolopet is not just a race but also a culmination of the EDS Skiroll Classics series, organized by the Pro Team eD system Silvini team. This event marks the grand finale and is a significant part of the Ski Classics Challengers calendar.
